NAIT PROVIDES PRICELESS SUPPORT TO WBF
NAIT has been quietly at work for over a year, helping WBF to grow into the organization it is working hard to become. "NAIT and WBF share the same belief; that education creates opportunities" stated Dr. Shaw, NAIT CEO & President. "We're both working to a common purpose of giving students the best training possible to prepare them for success in their chosen field. And I can tell that you that WBF is doing a great job. Their students are well prepared for work on day one and they are equally as prepared to learn when they come through our doors at NAIT for their technical apprenticeship training."
Additionally, NAIT students and instructors have been working on the fabrication of a unique artisan statue, to be unveiled at the WBF Training Center and Housing Facility on June 6 2008. This work of art may never have come to life without the expert molding of an outstanding group of NAIT employees. Based on the Celebration Figures designed by Susan Gottselig of Hot Glass Studio, the statue reflects an expression of joy and celebration through a gestural representation of the human figure. It is made of steel and stands approximately eight feet tall. “It was made with traditional methods and took 16 months from initial meetings to its unveiling on June 6, 2008,” explains Morris Jackson, Associate Dean, School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Technology. Morris was one of several NAIT employees from five departments who volunteered their time and skills to create the statue for Women Building Futures.
“The time and expertise that NAIT has given WBF to help us prepare for the growth we’re about to experience, is priceless," states WBF CEO JudyLynn Archer. Thank you Dr. Shaw and all of the extraordinary people at NAIT for believing in our vision and helping us achieve it.
