Syncrude Heavy Equipment Operator
Heavy equipment operators drive and operate many different types of equipment including: heavy hauler trucks, crawler dozers, graders, hydraulic and electric shovels, as well as other heavy equipment up to 400 tons.
The Syncrude Heavy Equipment Operator Program is a two week classroom training program to prepare women to begin their careers as a heavy equipment operator. This is a competitive program, with 16 seats available, and tuition is covered by Syncrude for successful applicants. Classroom training consists of two weeks in Fort McMurray, followed by fully paid, hands-on field training with Syncrude starting in January.
During the 364 day co-op, participants will have access to on-going coaching from WBF to support career retention and long term success.

Standard First Aid - CPR A & AED
- CSTS &WHMIS
- Fire Extinguisher Training
- (CSO) Common Safety Orientation
- Proof of residency for Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current Resume
- Career Investigation Report (2 interviews)
- Alberta Driver's License
- Online Assessments (ESG)
- Successfully pass drug, alcohol and fitness testing
- Test of Workplace Essential Skills
