Suncor Haul Truck

The Suncor Haul Truck program is a 2-week training opportunity to prepare graduates to start their careers as haul truck operators. 

Classroom training consists of 2 weeks, a combination of virtual and in-person in Fort McMurray, followed by up to a 6month paid co-op at one of Suncor’s Fort McMurray sites.

Description

There is rarely a dull day in the career of a haul truck operator. This exciting career will allow you to reach new heights and test your strength as you learn how to operate a haul truck that moves up to 400 tons of material.

The Suncor Haul Truck program is a 2-week training opportunity to prepare women to begin their career as a haul truck operator. Tuition for this competitive program is covered by Suncor for successful applicants. Training consists of 2 weeks, with training and work placements taking place in the Wood Buffalo region, followed by a paid co-op of up to 6 months at one of Suncor’s Fort McMurray sites. Travel and accommodation will be provided during training, as required.

You’ll build confidence, learn the ins and outs of the workplace and have hands-on training and support to guide you through the program and your career beyond.

Admission Requirements

Wood Buffalo region residents

  • Currently residing in Wood Buffalo region (minimum of 3 months) proof of residency required
  • Full class 5 Alberta driver’s licence. Abstract will be requested
  • Need to be able to work in a physically demanding job; mental stamina to succeed
  • Applicants are not currently employed by Suncor
  • No previous haul truck operator experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Drug, alcohol and fitness testing required

Fly In – Fly Out

  • Currently residing within 150 kilometres of Suncor’s Edmonton or Calgary flight hub. Proof of residency required
  • Full class 5 Alberta driver’s licence. Abstract will be requested
  • Need to be able to work in a physically demanding job; mental stamina to succeed
  • Applicants are not currently employed by Suncor
  • No previous haul truck operator experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Drug, alcohol and fitness testing required

Program Cost

Tuition for this program is funded by Suncor.

Employment Opportunities

Upon completion of this program, graduates will embark on up to a 6-month paid co-op with program sponsors Suncor at one of their Fort McMurray sites.
